The Dog Hotel

Liquid watercolor and waterproof ink

9″ x 12″

I saw a woman at a funeral, inside a church, with her little dog clutched in her arms.   I began to imagine a story in which a woman takes her dog everywhere with her, and what that might be like from the dog’s perspective.  I imagined them going to a hotel which welcomed dogs, and began to think about the other dogs that might be staying there.
