The Blue Hour

I was surprised to read recently in a  Norwegian novel  the expression “the blue hour.”  Many years ago, I dubbed that time of day when a mother is preparing supper and a small child is keeping her company “the blue hour.”  I meant it not only as a color — the sky changing as night came, and of course most pronounced in winter (hence no doubt the Norwegian familiarity with it)–but also the feeling one can get of a melancholy.  There has to be a story, here, too…
